Abstract

There are a large number of quantities like length, volume, acceleration, force, momentum, electric charge, current, potential, inductance, etc., which requires measurement. It must be clear from the very beginning that there is no fundamental difference in the basic principles of measurement, whether the measurements are made in physics, chemistry, laboratory medicine, biology, or engineering. An attempt, therefore, has been made to meet conceptual needs of measurements in fields such as biochemistry, food science, forensic science and molecular biology.
