Abstract
This chapter provides a summary of key government and general medical council (GMC) guidelines relevant for doctors practicing in the United Kingdom (UK). Such guidelines will continue to evolve. However, the text here provides an excellent basis and allows for future additions. Information is also provided on the management of refractive surprises, non-accidental injuries, ophthalmia neonatorum, never events and needle stick injuries. An approach to the clinical supervision of trainees in difficulty is also provided.
