Part of the book series: Fungal Biology ((FUNGBIO))

Abstract

The application of principles of biology and engineering to create usable and economically viable products is called engineering. This technology has been used in fungi to get the valuable products through fungal bioengineering. The fungi are useful in terms of the production of commercial and industrial products as well as biofuels such as bioethanol, biodiesel, and biohydrogen. The main emphasis is on biodiesel production from fungi bioengineering.Biofuels may emerge as new source of renewable energy. Biodiesel is an alternative fuel made from biological sources. It is an attractive energy source due to its environmental benefits. The use of microbes which can be easily grow and they can yield large amounts of lipids, like triglyceride, they have been considered as the most promising solutions
