Abstract

This chapter presents conclusions to the overall work and final remarks on the divisive effects of the Union for the Mediterranean on the unity and security of Africa. The European Union policy complex has paved the way for a dilution of African values. The State, as it stands, both as a “physical” representation and as an analytical construct in International Relations, will conserve the current divisive dynamics, and limit the prospects for decolonisation and a revival of African value systems conducive to its generalised resilience. It also outlines the importance of a need for a different approach outside of traditional, rationalist methodologies that have dominated the field of IR.
