Abstract

Family planning is an essential element of modern life. Family planning supports couples to decide on the size of their family and to appropriately space between pregnancies. Therefore, contraception is a major component of family planning, and it is the responsibility of care provider to support a woman’s choice of the most appropriate and efficient contraceptive option to her after discussing mode of action, effectiveness, safety, advantages and disadvantages, and alternatives to these options.
