Abstract

Renewed interest in the Guiana Shield with Suriname has resulted in the South-American Exploration Initiative, or SAXI-program, which kicked off in 2018, with the overall aim to enhance the exploration potential of the region through an integrated program of research and data gathering. Exploration/mining companies are assisted in focusing their activities in areas of maximum prospectivity, while helping local Geological Surveys and universities (GMD and Anton de Kom University) in their role of providing pre-competitive data, information and competence.
