Abstract

Ecuador has made important progress in the development of its space sector in recent years, mainly since the creation of the national space agency that has made an extraordinary contribution to putting the country in the international space arena. This chapter presents a description of Ecuador’s main space activities. Section one is a general overview of the South American country; section two presents Ecuador’s space history; section three and four focus on the country’s space policies, legislation and actors; section five describes the recent space cooperation programs adopted by Ecuador and other international partners; section six concerns Ecuador’s space activities, and sections seven and eight briefly mention the country’s space technology development and its capacity building and outreach activities.
