Crisis, Catastrophe, and Disaster in Organizations

Abstract

An organization’s capacity to perform in response to a crisis is a critical focus for this chapter. Implementation capabilities, reaction tactics, speed, and operational conditions are among the topics covered related to performance in the face of a crisis. Careful consideration of the crisis’ characteristics shapes any response: What is the crisis’ magnitude, how intense is it, and what levels of force are associated with it. Finally, how are the characteristics of a crisis measured.
