Abstract

The nonsurgical management of nerve compression headache incorporates many aspects of care, including patient education, prevention of pain, control of acute pain, diagnosis and management of co-morbidities, and, if appropriate, referral for surgery and post-operative care. Knowledge of common co-morbidities and the management of other common headache disorders, particularly migraine, are important. The management of patients with nerve compression headaches continues even after successful surgery, as other headache types may be present, and flares of pain may occur under certain circumstances.
