Abstract
From a sparse literature we selected five contrasting papers concerned with patient and public involvement, co-design, co-production and quality improvement, with the intention of gaining understanding of how these approaches are viewed and applied in the development of safe healthcare delivery practices. We were particularly interested in a number of areas of confusion and debate and have reported on the case studies using this lens.
