Abstract

In this chapter a brief description is provided on decision aid methodologies and risk modelling. The fragility and criticality indices are introduced and formulated. Throughout the mathematical modelling practical examples are presented. In the deterministic model category, the criticality index is applied to overhead lines, while the fragility index is developed for power transformers. Within probabilistic models, a review is made on the most prominent functions and an example is framed for a gas boiler. Finally, this chapter addresses learning algorithms and sketches a use case dedicated to circuit breakers.
