Abstract

Three variants of the graphical representations of the classical International System of Units might be considered as most eloquent, and at the same time scientifically correct and explicit. They could be called (a) (European) “tree”, (b) (Asian) “planetary system” and, respectively, (c) (American) “subway map” representation, in accordance with their specific shape. The purpose of this chapter is to highlight the place of the quantity “force” and its measurement unit, the “newton”, in these representations.
