Abstract

Nanocomposites are materials which possess a unique combination of property and design considerations. It is the type of materials considered as the materials of the future due to its properties and scope of use. Nanocomposites show a significant growth in its production in the last few years. Industries are taking interest in this type of materials and begin to use it in various sectors ranging from household items to aerospace industry. In this chapter the three different types of nanocomposites are described. The main focus of this work is to present the various techniques or methods for the synthesis of these types of nanocomposites, namely, polymer nanocomposites, ceramic nanocomposites and metal matrix nanocomposites. An approach is also made to discuss the advantages and limitations of these nanocomposites. Various methods are also discussed to prepare these nanocomposites along with CNTs.
