Abstract

The location of eating establishments within a city is related to the distribution of the population, and affects all areas. But this does not mean, however, that restaurants and bars in the outskirts of the city have the same characteristics as those in the downtown. Drawing on the example of Warsaw, especially its three residential neighbourhoods, this chapter reveals that the character and prices of eating establishments in the outer city largely reflect the needs of local residents. In general, there are fewer gourmet restaurants, as well as fewer establishments serving business lunches.
