Abstract

The paper presents the results of critical gap times and follow-up times studies at selected median, uncontrolled T-intersections located in the Upper Silesian agglomeration. In the world literature available to the general public, little space was devoted to objects of this type, despite their significant differences in comparison with intersections such as: intersection of 1 × 2-type roads or median intersection with four approaches. Two selected, real research objects have been characterized. The processes of measurements, data processing and their influence on the sample size was described. During the analysis of the results, attention was drawn to the influence of the selected factors on the critical gap times and follow-up times, in particular on the differential in corresponding relations between intersections within and outside built-up areas. The possibility of using these times for the calibration of capacity calculation methods was pointed out.
