Abstract
This chapter adopts the ‘Nagel’-approach that was introduced in Chapter 1 and it continues and concludes the exploration of the functions of electronic monitoring, which was started in Chapter 2. Ten different functions are being discussed: incapacitation, profit maximalisation, protection of victims, reintegration, responsabilisation, restoration, tackling overcrowding, transcarceration, verification and widening the net.
