Abstract
This book introduces the Aristotelian-Thomistic (A-T) view of the human person and reviews the ways in which this view could provide a philosophically sound foundation for modern psychology. In this chapter, we review the current state of psychology and argue that the current philosophical foundations are lacking, both in that they are not philosophically sound in themselves and in that they create problems for modern psychology as a unified discipline. We then discuss what A-T philosophical psychology has to offer, specifically, and discuss the A-T tradition in the context of the modern understanding of science.
