Abstract
In this chapter, Hanna M. Kreitem explores the idea of using the capacity to control access to communication technologies as a form of weapon to support and maintain disparity in power by controlling inclusion and exclusion in the Network Society. The chapter looks at the case of Palestine/Israel to explore the specific practices that can be classified as a form of weaponization of access to build for further research in the field, with examples of practices spanning from the days of analogue telephony in the mid-twentieth century to the recent control on online activities, establishing a cycle of practice that runs in parallel to the technology life-cycle, from controlling access to infrastructure and media, to surveillance and control of online practice and the message.
