Abstract
Specialised support for families of babies dying in Singapore started in the late 1990s through the dedicated efforts of a group of neonatal healthcare professionals which included doctors, nurses and medical social workers. Since then it has grown to include both multidisciplinary hospital and community hospice services providing support for babies with palliative care needs. There has been an increase in awareness and interest amongst the wider neonatal community in Singapore over the past 2 years, and local guidelines for palliative care are being developed. Further efforts are being made to equip local neonatologists with enhanced skills to provide palliative care to babies and their families.
