Abstract

In recent years, neonatal palliative care similarly to other countries has gained increased importance in Germany. The infant mortality rate in Germany is low and in daily clinical practice and in research, valuable initiatives have been developed to ensure the best possible quality of life and the well-being of babies and children, as well as the needs of the family. Further research and guidelines are still required to improve the evidence base and knowledge in developing high quality neonatal palliative care. This chapter will discuss available data and existing concepts.
