Abstract
Organ and tissue donation forms a very important part of palliative and end of life care; however, relatively few infants and children die with conditions that mean this can be an option; even more important that when they do, we get this process right.
This chapter gives an insight into the complexities of donation, when and how it occurs, principles and published guidance that define the process and how we as healthcare professionals can work together to enable families to consider these choices in end of life care.
The chapter also gives us strategic steps to increase organ and tissue donation as well as statistical data to show how donation in infants and children has evolved in the last few years.
