Abstract

From an epistemological perspective, turbulence eludes the Kuhnian model of scientific revolutions. A more appropriate scheme would have to bridge the gap between the history of science on the one side and technology on the other. The historical development of turbulence in both realms suggests its analysis in terms of an evolutionary model.
