Abstract
Reflecting on the key findings of the foregoing chapters, the author considers how the situation has changed for Jews living in Germany since the immigration of Russian-speaking Jews was officially ended in 2005. He identifies, on the one hand, considerable pessimism amongst some long-established Jewish commentators about whether the migration has truly revitalized Jewish communities, but on the other hand, a guarded optimism expressed mainly, but not solely, by Russian-speaking Jews about the potential for building a new kind of Jewish life in Germany, one that does not conform to the (traditional) expectations of long-established Jewish leaders and German politicians. Ultimately, though, this is a history that is still being played out.
