Abstract
Treatment of pigmented lesions is complex. Lasers with selective wavelength and optimal pulse duration have been developed. These are capable of limiting the thermal damage only to the chromophore responsible for the skin spots and to ensure at the same time quick healing and an important esthetic result. The choice of wavelength varies according to the more or less superficial localization of the pigment. Treatment of pigmentary lesions and tattoos with correct lasers (Q-switched nano- or picosecond lasers) does not induce important complications, if a correct preliminary diagnostic evaluation has been performed.
