Abstract
The Post-match scramble was replaced by the SOAP (Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program) in 2012. It constitutes the process where programs interview and extend offers to the eligible applicants by creating a preference list in NRMP Registration, Ranking, and Result—R3 system through a series of offer rounds. Herein, we provide the information regarding the eligibility, timelines of the events, and the match outcomes through this process. According to the 2018 NRMP (National Residency Matching Program) data, the total of 464 programs that participated in SOAP offered 1171 positions. Of these positions, 54.7% were PGY-1 only. Out of 1655 offers sent to applicants, 1055 were accepted. In conclusion, 90.1% of SOAP positions are filled, providing a positive outlook toward gaining a residency for all the unmatched applicants.
Every person who prepares is one less person who panics in crisis.
