Abstract
Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm paves the way of connecting every object with the Internet environment to share information that improves the quality of life. On the other hand, the cloud computing facilitates pay per use model by providing on demand delivery of computing resources. The IoT can gain unlimited resources and computing capabilities from the cloud and the cloud can step ahead in its way towards the real life scenarios in a dynamic and distributed manner. This chapter introduces the role of cloud computing in IoT and discusses the need to integrate IoT and cloud, highlighting its benefits and implementation challenges. It also emphasizes the role of evolution of cloud based IoT systems towards federated ecosystems and its architecture, requirements and challenges
