Abstract

This chapter summarizes the three applications of precision measurements in nuclear physics featured in this dissertation: A half-life measurement for tests of the Standard Model through the unitarity of the CKM matrix, a Penning trap mass measurement for determining the path of the astrophysical rp-process in Type I X-ray bursts, and the construction of a cooler-buncher for the forthcoming Nā€‰=ā€‰126 factory at ATLAS, which will provide access to nuclei of interest for the astrophysical r-process. It also provides an outlook for potential future research directions for precision measurements in each of these areas of nuclear physics.
