A Blockchain Framework for Proptech: Success Model Through Disintermediation and Self-regulation

Abstract

Land records are traditionally recorded via physical documentation method, where the documents are isolated with different stakeholders in order to ensure their integrity. Of late, governments across the world are ushering exponential changes to transform Property Technology (PropTech) i.e. a facet of digital transformation in the property industry. Can government itself be a part of the blockchain ecosystem by paving the way for disintermediation? Is self-regulation a way forward for blockchain in PropTech. This question remains unanswered in the present-day scenario. Therefore, this paper explores the possibility of regulating PropTech through Blockchain, and presents a framework for Blockchain adoption in PropTech & the role, the Government can play within this ecosystem.
