Abstract
Even though religious bioethicists have tried to find ways to develop normative bioethical arguments amidst the diversity of their respective religious traditions, the various chapters of the first part of the book may still leave the impression that a study of religious bioethics actually leads to the conclusion that within a global context bioethical arguments cannot be normative for everyone, but only for those who adhere to particular traditions. In this part, we assess the validity of that statement and explore ways to talk about normativity in a global context and implement normative discourse in practice.
