Abstract
In the domestic violence and abuse (DVA) literature, it is only relatively recently that the impacts on children have been fully recognised, documented and researched. In this chapter, we explore the key issues for children and we emphasise the importance of ensuring that they are always considered in cases of suspected or known DVA. The chapter is loosely structured around a framework that two of the authors (Humphreys and Bradbury-Jones) proposed in 2015 as a way to help healthcare professionals support families and children affected by DVA through keeping in mind three domains: focus, response and intervention.
