Abstract
Appendicitis which is also called epityphlitis is acute inflammation of the appendix (vermiform appendix). Acute appendicitis is one of the common causes of abdominal pain and is the most frequent condition necessitating an emergency surgery in children. A delay in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis is known to be associated with perforation and complications, especially in young children. The clinical features, diagnosis and management are discussed.
