Abstract
The impacts of aviation industry on the environment are diverse and complex. They are covered by numerous research works and belong to the field of study and regulation by a range of international organizations. However, the understanding of the environmental issues and approaches to their mitigation are not well distributed among the industry practitioners, as it is seen from the environmental policies of airlines. The given research presents the findings of the analysis of various documents promulgated by airlines around the world to demonstrate their work on the reduction of environmental impacts from air transportation. The commercialization, qualitative targets and lack of regular reporting procedure are the most typical drawbacks, which prevent improvement of the airlines’ environmental performance.
