Abstract
The chapter begins with providing an understanding of substance abuse within the family context. Interventions that do not have support for the effectiveness, and research-based intervention and prevention approaches are discussed. Interventions with research support include CRAFT, the 5-Step Method, Behavioral Couples Therapy, the Nurturing Parenting Program, and Motivational Interviewing.
