Abstract

This section reviews common endocrine emergencies affecting the pediatric population from neonates to adolescents. Based on the American Board of Pediatrics guidelines, clinical scenarios are presented involving abnormal newborn screening, common endocrine disorders (such as diabetes, hypoglycemia, adrenal insufficiency, etc.) and their serious complications (including diabetic ketoacidosis, acute adrenal crisis, etc.) and management, which will not only help prepare you for your board but also enable clinical decision-making in real-life emergencies.
