Abstract
The functions and operations of the BRI have been explained within the context of theories of economic development together within its political and organizational framework. A successful implementation of the BRI may eventually lead to a restructuring of the global economy. Economic development may accelerate by implementing the appropriate infrastructure. China has moved ahead in technology and has become internationally competitive. However, the development of infrastructure is vital if economic development is to take an inclusive approach so that forward and backward linkages are connected. The BRI contributes approximately one half of global economic activities. However, as China has in many instances not followed the neoliberal paradigm, China’s re-emergence cannot be explained through such a paradigm.
