Abstract

Heavy military vehicles are equipped with tracked tracks, because on a low-load bearing ground through a moving road - a track, you can distribute the pressure more evenly. One of the ways to protect the vehicle and the crew is to use the mobility of the vehicle combined with a continuous change of direction, i.e. permanent use of the maneuver against the targeting enemy. To assess the traction properties of the vehicle, in addition to the design features, the impact of the properties of the soil should be considered. The work reviews the characteristics related to the mobility of tracked vehicles. The issues of the load-bearing capacity of the soil, track adhesion to the ground, and turn resistance were taken into account. An original method was proposed to assess the maneuverability of vehicles moving on a deformable substrate. Trends in the development of suspensions and crawler chassis are presented. In the summary, further directions of analytical, computational and research works with the use of numerical techniques were specified. The results of the work can be useful in shaping the reliability of vehicles and issues related to the smoothness of the vehicle’s movement (comfort of the crew’s work, the possibility of precise aiming).
