Abstract
Anxiety is found as a significant factor in most mental health diagnoses. All humans experience a uniform set of physiological responses in reaction to perceived stressors. These responses are triggered by stress -related hormones including cortisol. The possibility that stress (and associated anxiety ) is the main latent class variable in a variety of disorders of mental health is increasingly likely.
