Abstract

In addition to carrying out diagnostics regarding error or warning messages, it can be useful to have a global overview of how Abaqus documentation can help users looking for some close examples in different expertise field and in some analysis skills. The analysts will be able also to find some additional procedures to use on FEA model types is given to allow sub-modeling, restart and Shell models, for instance, to be performed correctly. The content of this chapter complements the troubleshooting by providing users with more information about modeling techniques and good practice to perform analyses.

NAFEMS is the International Association for the Engineering Modelling, Analysis and Simulation Community. It is a not for profit organization, which was established in 1983. https://www.nafems.org/.

  2. 2.

The Saint-Venant’s principle allows elasticians to replace complicated stress distributions or weak boundary conditions with ones that are easier to solve, as long as that boundary is geometrically short. Quite analogous to the electrostatics, where the electric field due to the ith moment of the load (with zeroth being the net charge, first the dipole, second the quadrupole) decays as \(1/r^{i+2}\) over space, Saint-Venant’s principle states that high order momentum of mechanical load (moment with order higher than torque) decays so fast that they never need to be considered for regions far from the short boundary. Therefore, the Saint-Venant’s principle can be regarded as a statement on the asymptotic behavior of the Green’s function by a point-load.
