Abstract

The brain is susceptible to a shortage of oxygen. The encephalopathy may be secondary to the failure of another such as lung and heart. The clinical pattern of this link is hypoxaemic and ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE). These mechanisms represent the last common way of the neuronal death for the inability of oxidative metabolism. There are two main clinic models in practice: mild and severe HIE. Many neurologic and psychiatric diseases impact with these models.
