Abstract

Wind energy is known as one of the core renewable energies along with solar energy. Wind turbines produce clean energy without any wastes. In 2017, South Korea presented a new policy with renewable energy, which is called “RE 3020”. The RE 3020 will encourage to generate electricity with renewable energy including wind energy. This chapter states the status of energy in South Korea such as import and dependency to know the necessity of wind energy. Here the advantages and disadvantages of wind energy are stated as well, and the solution for the problem, noise reduction technology, is stated. The current state of wind farms in South Korea is described, and also South Korea’s plans as regards large-scale projects that can generate electricity at least 100 MW in the policy RE 3020.
