Abstract

Small fiber neuropathy (SFN) is a common neuromuscular disorder which can be associated with many medical conditions. While the majority of SFN is length-dependent (LD-SFN), non-length-dependent SFN (NLD-SFN) is frequently seen in association with sarcoidosis, Sjogren’s syndrome, and other immune-mediated conditions. Comparing with LD-SFN, the age at onset in NLD-SFN is younger and it more affects woman. Skin biopsy shows reduced intraepidermal nerve fiber densities with no distal-to-proximal gradient. Here we describe a case of NLD-SFN associated with sarcoidosis.
