Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to discuss and examine the US regulatory and academic leadership response to the country’s corporate scandals and corporate governance crisis. A historical overview of select past large corporate scandals is provided, along with a biblical assessment of the leadership scandals through the lens of the Ten Commandment principles, with respect to dishonesty, theft, coveting, idealizing, and hurting others. The biblical approach to transforming deficient behavior by changing the heart is examined. Current-day corporate leadership scandals that defied established laws are discussed. Considered as well is the effectiveness of corrective actions taken to curtail corporate leadership misconduct. Pursuing various forms of organizational spirituality is suggested for enhancing efforts toward acculturating heart-driven commitment to ethical leadership values and behavior.
