Abstract
Factors outside diet and physical activity can contribute to weight gain. Most notably, many commonly used medications have a potential adverse effect of weight gain, which can lead to iatrogenic obesity – that is, obesity being caused, or contributed to, by medical treatment. Clinicians should become aware of medications with a high risk for weight gain and alternative medication options.
