Abstract

The express goal of value-based quality care is to provide appropriate, effective, and enduring care that is evidence-based and patient centered. Significant variability in clinical practice often is at odds with value-based care as it promotes inequity, substandard outcomes, and increased healthcare costs. Numerous studies demonstrate reduction in variation results in improved care for patients. This chapter will explore the impact of clinical care pathways and checklists on the quality of care provided to our bariatric patients.
