Abstract
Natural language processing (NLP) is a major topic under research and development since the past decade. The ability to analyze, compute and understand plain human language with the help of computers and machine learning has been inculcated into various applications and platforms. The advent of virtual assistants in consumer technology has made major companies work on their own cloud based platforms. This paper discusses in detail how chatbots primarily use parameters such as entities and intents to match syntaxes and performing natural language processing. Every platform has certain services and integrations and predefined data sets for training the bots which makes them have certain advantages over each other. This paper compares the descriptive feature of the major four virtual assistants available today- Google DialogFlow, Microsoft LUIS, IBM Watson Conversation and Amazon Lex. This paper consists of four sections: Introduction, Natural Language Understanding Platforms, NLP Taxonomy, Feature Analysis, Future Work and Conclusion.
