Abstract

Actions you take in your everyday life can make the difference of task becoming manageable to overwhelming. No successful scholar will have gotten where they are today without key enabling habits. There are social behaviors, termed principles of influence, that have great power. Reciprocity is one of the most powerful of them and can be demonstrated by my own personal relationship with Dr. Shih-Han Susan Huang. A simple behavior doubled my research output. Collaboration cannot be underestimated; after all, two minds are better than one.

Further, subsections demonstrating The fight against the email inbox, Making schedules, and Making Lists demonstrate to the young academic the simplest of ways I am proud of using to make tasks and projects manageable. MeisterTask, Excel, and other free tools are invaluable and unfortunately not recognized enough until someone is well into their career. Collaborate, collaborate, collaborate. Use reciprocity. You will immediately double your productivity. Choose successful mentors. These small things will make a substantial difference.
