Abstract
Acute disseminated (postinfectious) encephalomyelitis is a multi-focal but typically monophasic and pediatric disorder. It most often follows an infectious trigger and manifests as diffuse encephalopathy with multi focal neurologic deficits. It is part of a spectrum, and antibodies to myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein identify a subset at risk for future optic neuritis. This chapter reviews current information on this neuroimmune disorder.
