Intercultural Psychotherapy

Abstract

Latin America is a region defined by ethnic and cultural diversity, but with very similar history, economy, politics, social inequities, and violence that have led several times to the mass mobilisation of populations. The particularities of this demographic lead to specific ways of facing mental health problems. The proposal suggested here is to combine knowledge on the neurobiological mechanisms of cultural pathoplasticity with ethnic, sociological, and anthropological aspects and a phenomenological and subjective approach, thereby creating a concept which is peculiar for Latino Population.
