Part of the book series: Power Systems ((POWSYS))

Abstract

The chapter includes protection power systems based on the IEC 61850 protocol for data communication systems between substations. The IEC 61850 is adequate for real time communication between IED based on GOOSE messages. The chapter includes the case study from the Romanian power systems: implementation of protection and remote control system in transformer station 110 kV/20 kV Laminor, using IEC 61850.
