Abstract
Humankind is beset with everyday vanities, work, and family care. If any resident of Chelyabinsk had been approached and asked in January 2013 what they thought about bolides, their origin and flight velocity, they would most likely have responded with blank looks and little understanding. After the huge bolide exploded above Chelyabinsk on February 15, 2013, meteors and meteorites were hotly discussed in most strata of society. This was the strongest effect of the bolide on the local cultural background.
